Over the last several weeks tools for dealing with menopause have been explored.   1. Inhale deeply and on the exhale, drop you head forward toward the chest while relaxing the shoulders
  2. Inhale while gently moving the right ear toward the right shoulder while keeping your shoulders relaxed and squared off. A nice stretch is experienced in the left side of the neck. Take 3 deep breaths
  3. On exhale, allow the head to gently move to the chest and place the left ear over the left shoulder with relaxed shoulders. Take 3 breaths.
  4. Let the head gently fall to the chest. Repeat 2 more times

Feeling Angry at the World or Have Headaches – Trace Gallbladder Meridian

Yang Gallbladder (GB) meridian’s Yin partner is Liver and together they govern muscle, tendons, ligaments and nails. From a Traditional Chinese Medicine view, this pear-shaped organ is viewed as a wise and prudent judge, ruling the body with careful decisions and impeccable judgment. GB regulates reckless or impulsive behavior. Out of balance, a person with GB symptoms will resonate with angry behavior directed toward the world. Physical manifestations may include: arthritis; lateral eye pain; gallstones; migraine headaches; one sided headaches; temple headaches; hip problems; jaw pain; or knee problems; nervousness (GB governs the Nervous System). Notice how many of these issues follow the GB pathway!

Meridian Flow Wheel Time of day. GB meridian’s high tide is 11 PM to 1 AM. We always begin and end by tracing Central and Governing meridians before starting to trace the other meridians. If you begin tracing your meridians at 11 30 PM, then begin with GB.

Reasons to Trace Alone in Addition to Tracing All Meridians. Although it is best to trace all your meridians as one continuous flow, you may want to trace GB if you have some of the symptoms listed in the opening paragraph above or if you experience sedative abuse; stimulant abuse; have strain injuries; grind your teeth; or have TMJ.

Remembering that matter follows energy, stating a positive thought shifts the energy just by the intention-this is the metaphysical fabric of life! Pathway of Meridian. The second longest meridian, it is one of the most complicated. Follow along while looking at the diagram. For this one, do both sides at the same time. Begin by placing your fingers on the outside of your eyes; trace to the ear opening; make a loop above the ear by bringing fingers forward in a circle; then bring fingers behind the ears; stop and bring fingers to the front of the forehead; stop and take fingers over the crown of the head down the back of the neck and behind the shoulders; move fingers to the back and trace to the outside edge of the breast tissue and to the bottom of your ribs, then in at the waist; back on the waist; now trace forward onto the hips and then straight down the outside of the legs and off the 4th toe. Whew-quite a feat! That’s it. You just traced Gallbladder meridian!!

Flushing or Tracing the Meridian Backwards. Remember that if there is too much energy in a meridian, you may want to trace it backwards and see if that makes you feel better. If experiencing pain or dis-ease in the area of a meridian, it is likely that removing the energy from the meridian will provide relief. If it does, then trace it backwards 3 times, but NEVER TRACE HEART BACKWARDS. If it seems there is not enough energy in your meridian then trace it forward 3 times. If you feel better, this is what was needed. Experience the impact of the energetic shifts. To flush a meridian, as if you are de-clogging a pipe, trace the meridian once backwards to loosen the sludge and then trace the meridian forward 3 times. Flushing really helps reset the meridian’s balance.

TODAY’S TOPIC –  HEADACHES – CLOGGED ENERGY IN YOUR HEAD

Headache is defined in WordNet English dictionary as a noun that is: “1. Pain in the head caused by dilation of cerebral arteries or muscle contractions or a reaction[to] drugs 2. Something or someone that causes anxiety; a source of unhappiness..“

From an Energy Medicine perspective, energy wants to move and needs space. If compressed or pressed (i.e. dilation of arteries or muscle contraction), energy surrounding the arteries or muscles can’t dynamically flow. Remember the soft spot on a baby’s head and the sutures that must knit together to provide solid bone structure for protection of the brain? These same sutures remain present in our skull as adults. It is noted in wiki.answers.com “In adult life the main function of sutures is to distribute impact force evenly around the skull. The collagen present in the interfacial layer coupled with the jagged interlocking joints distributes impact force evenly across the entire length of the sutures and connecting bone…….”

Thus, trapped energy is moved out of the head at the suture points since they are not solid bone, but are interlocking joints. Using the structure of the body enables it to heal itself through simple technique. The following EM exercise works for chronic headaches and takes about 2 minutes to complete:

THE ISOMETRIC PRESS FOR CHRONIC HEADACHES

Step 1. As you tilt your head to the right, place your right palm against the right side of your head, over the suture line. While taking a deep breath and holding it, push you head and your hand against each other.

Step 2. As you slowly release your breath, remove your hand and stretch your head toward your right shoulder. Repeat Step 1 and 2 two times

Step 6. Repeat Step 5, but as you release the breath, let your head fall forward toward your chest.

Step 7. On an in breath, place your palms against your forehead as you push them into the forehead in an upward motion, while you push your head down toward your chest. On an out breath, release palms while head continues to drop farther toward chest. Do 2 more times. On the 3rd round, on the out breath, lock your fingers behind your head and use your elbows to slowly gently pull your head downward.

Feel better already? This is one exercise for a chronic headache. Other techniques to address allergy headaches or tension headaches, or sinus headaches are available.
